‘I Cinghiali’ is a substantial and historic villa situated in the Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany, approximately 65km from Lucca. The main house sleeps 10 people in 3 very comfortable queen bedded rooms and two twin bedrooms. There is a fully tiled bathroom on each level and a laundry in the basement. Plentiful supplies of freshly ironed linen and towels are stored on the ground floor and blankets, doonas and pillows upstairs.
In addition to the main house there is a beautifully renovated barn available which sleeps 4 people in an open plan design with its own bathroom and kitchen.
There is a good sound system, television, satellite TV, classical CD collection, hundreds of books covering a wide range of subjects and a selection of games including jigsaws, books and toys for young children.
At the bottom of the hill, about a 6 minute drive, is the bustling township of Piazza al Serchio where you will find everything you need - bars, restaurants, supermarkets, a wonderful bakery, a fresh pasta shop, pizzerias, post office, banks and a public swimming pool (open June – Sep)
Practicing your Italian whilst foraging in the markets for the best tomatoes, the latest shoes, a cheap sweater or a pair of sunglasses is so rewarding. Whether you understand the replies is unimportant - you will feel the warmth and generosity of the people of the Garfagnana who are still not used to mass tourism and are delighted to welcome visitors even if they don't understand why you so enjoy the pleasures of their village life.
